Parent FAQ

The purpose of Sigma Kappa Sorority is to provide women lifelong opportunities and support for social, intellectual, and spiritual development by bringing women together to positively impact our communities.

Is there an academic requirement?

Yes, for potential new members we do require a 2.8 GPA from high school. Also, potential new members who are college students as well as our active members must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA. This 2.5 GPA is based on a 4.0 scale and it is what's declared to be in good standings with our chapter as well as with the National Headquarters of Sigma Kappa. If a member were to fall below a 2.5 GPA, the Scholarship committee will meet with her and provide her with an Academic Assessment Plan to help guide her. Sigma Kappa prioritizes academics as our number one priority in school. Sisters who achieve the presidents or deans list even are recognized and rewarded!

How can parents get involved?

We highly encourage parents to attend our parents weekend, mother daughter teas, and all of our other events! We let our sisters know when our events are, but feel free to check our events page to know what we have going on.

What are the financial responsibilities?

Sigma Kappa relies on national fees from its members to keep to finance chapter expenses and services. If you would like to know more you can find more detailed information on our national website. Each member will be given a thorough breakdown of all the financial responsibilities upon joining our sorority. We understand that it can be overwhelming, but with the help of our Vice President of Finance we can make it manageable.

Is there a time commitment?

Sigma Kappa is a time commitment, however we work with all members and their schedules. Many of our sister are involved in more than one organization and manage their time perfectly. In fact, we encourage our members to be involved in more organizations.
